Pakistani displaced children wait to be check by the nutrition specialists in a UNICEF supported clinic at the Jalozai refugee camp next to Peshawar, Pakistan. Pakistani security forces have thundered into the main town in a northwest Taliban stronghold, engaging in fierce street battles Saturday while trying to avoid casualties among thousands of civilians still there, the army said.
(Why Should we remember to groan?)
With the heat rising, these mountain people will fall to hunger, dehydration, diahrrea, then cholera, typhoid and typhus will follow unless they are all vaccinated now. We better hope the Pakistani Army crushes the Taliban quickly so these people can return to their high valleys. And frankly, I wouldn't bring Christianity into it at all unless you want already agitated people turning on you. They may not like the Taliban but they have no patience for anyone that pushes non-Moslem beliefs.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous,
ReplyDeleteMy intent was not to push any certain beliefs on anyone. The reason for this post was simply to remind myself and other Christian believers that this world is not as it's supposed to be.
I believe that Christianity offers the best explanation of why this world is as messed up as it is, and provides the best explanation for how this world can be healed.
The Pakistani army may crush the Taliban and return these folks to their home, but the world will still be groaning. Temporal comfort can be obtained through military success, but eternal hope is found only in Christ.
I appreciate your visiting the blog and certainly understand that not everyone shares my beliefs. I would be happy to share with yo more about how Jesus has won my trust and confidence.
